The O’My’s Premiere “Pieces,” A Song Inspired By Their Tour Bus Crash
Chicago-based soul group the O'My's have just released "Pieces," the second single off their upcoming EP, Keeping The Faith, and the inspiration is kind of scary.
The name of both the single and the upcoming album came about after the band's van ran off the road and flipped several times while on tour with ZZ Ward last year. "Nick fell asleep while we were driving," guitarist-vocalist Maceo Haymes told the Chicago Reader.
"Somehow with all of the damage that happened to the van and everything we came out completely fine," he continued. "There is a clear reason that everyone who was in that car came out safely."
Musically, this album is pitched to take a lot of influence from Parliament Funkadelic and “the psychedelic side of soul music that isn't as much really talked about or appreciated on the same level as the stereotypical soul,” says Nick Hennessey.
Keeping The Faith will be released in February. In the meantime check out The O'My's "Pieces".
