The Whitaker Group Presents "We Were There," An Air Max 90 Retrospective
Two-thousand-fifteen marks the 25th anniversary of the release of the Nike Air Max 90. This particular model in the Air Max line was originally known as the Air Max III, until it was redubbed the Air Max 90 (oddly enough, in the year 2000).
Since bringing infrared to the streets, 90s have been a popular silhouette amongst many in the sneaker community. It has also been heralded as one of the most comfortable and uniquely designed in the Air Max family making it a favorite to this day.
To honor the shoe’s 25 solid years in the game, the Whitaker Group has partnered with artist PelNYC for a collection of paintings that take you on a 25-year-journey; each painting reflects important moments, trends, and figures from the past 25 years.
Stores operating under The Whitaker Group will release a piece from the collection, along with a corresponding statement from the artist, each day on their respective Instagram accounts starting on May 4. These stores include A Ma Manière, Social Status, and APB.
On May 28, A Ma Manière will host an in-store event in Atlanta, where they will have the full series on view, will be selling custom art books, and will also provide an opportunity to purchase the Nike Air Max 90 OG.
