This Will Destroy You Debuts Animated Video “New Topia”
Post-rock band This Will Destroy You has just released their latest video for the single “New Topia.” The video designed by Adam Fuchs, or “Lilfuchs” as he is known in the art world, offers up four minutes of seamless animations that melt and fade into one another to beautiful effect.
In an interview with The Creators Project, Fuchs gave a behind-the-scenes look into the making of the mesmerizing video: “It took me six months to complete. The first two months were spent blocking out the idea from mood boards, writing out ideas and then an animatic for timing and transitions,” he said. “The last four months were spent animating and fleshing out the ideas with lots of drawings and color theory.”
“I’m a fan of visual storytelling but in a style that’s more weird,” he continued. “It’s normal for me to think about a linear story line, but then doing it in a way that’s more my style. I’ve always loved having things transition and flow into each other without having to cut or break the scene.”
When asked about the his favorite moment from the video, Fuchs replied, “I’d have to say I always like the spiral staircase moment. It’s the most melodic part of the song and hits you like thunder, plus Alex’s drumming in that part is awesome!”
This Will Destroy You originated in San Marco, Texas and is made up of guitarists Jeremy Galindo and Chris King, bass player and keyboardist Donovan Jones, and drummer Alex Bhore.
You can catch the band on tour kicking off in Brooklyn on February 26 through March 28. To see more from the band or check out their show schedule visit their site.
