2. Swoon: Submerged Motherlands
Brooklyn Museum - Brooklyn, NY
On April 11, street artist Swoon’s new installation, Submerged Motherlands, will be unveiled at the Brooklyn Museum. Located in the museum’s rotunda gallery space, the exhibit will feature a magical landscape with a large sculptural tree in the center of the installation, which will rise to the room’s 72-foot-high dome, as well as sculpted boats and rafts that Swoon sailed to the 2009 Venice Biennale, figurative prints and drawings, and paper foliage. This immersive installation will be her second piece at the Brooklyn Museum, the first being her “Coney, Early Evening” installation created in 2005.
