3. Wayne Campbell - SNL
In the late ‘80s and very early ‘90s, the teenage metalhead was still very much a thing. Wayne Campbell, a character created by Saturday Night Live’s Mike Myers, was a parody of suburban dudes who played air guitar to bands like Aerosmith in their parents’ basements. Together with his pal, Garth Algar, Wayne hosted Wayne’s World, a public-access television show that was broadcast in his hometown of Aurora, IL. The sketch and its catchphrases like, “We’re not worthy!” and so on, grew popular enough to justify two feature films. At the time, pretty much every kid in America aspired to be Wayne.
