Ah, the good old days of PCs. Among the main providers of desktop computers was Compaq, which launched one of the first portable computer systems. The Compaq Portable dropped in 1983 as the brand’s first product and put Compaq on the market as a major competitor in the tech field. Over time, they kept up with the technological advances of the processor system, but eventually faced a hard time holding up against low-cost competitors, especially Dell. We doubt they were big fans of those popular “Dude, you’re getting a Dell” commercials.
