While RCA is currently known for being an established record company for artists like Alicia Keys and Miley Cyrus, it once was also an electronics company that launched a ton of our current household technology. Appropriately named the Radio Corporation of America, the company originally launched in the early 1900s to monopolize the U.S. government’s control on radio technology. Over time, they launched some historic products, like the first electronic turntable in 1930. Soon after, they became a manufacturer of the electronic television and vacuums, and an early supplier for printing industries. This all came before being taken over by General Electric in 1986. Just remember, every time you look at a red, white, and yellow cord on the back of your video game console or TV, be informed that they’re actually called RCA connectors.
