Fashawn - Skateboarding
Growing up in a place like Fresno, CA, as a youngin’ you have to find ways to distance yourself from the streets. Fresno-born Fashawn knows that struggle first-hand. Hip-hop may have saved Nas’s life, but for Fashawn, the savior was a skateboard. After getting his first board as an adolescent, Fash found a welcome distraction from the daily grind at the skate park. Needless to say, the 25-year-old rapper — who graced the cover of XXL’s coveted Top 10 Freshman issue in 2010 alongside the likes of J. Cole, Wiz Khalifa, and Aloe Blacc — hasn’t looked back since. In addition to working on dropping his follow-up album to Boy Meets World, which is due out in September, Fash always finds time to fine-tune his skate skills. The man has already worked with a handful of skate brands, including Etnies and Vans, and even has his own line of skate gear. He’s even known to play a casual game of S.K.A.T.E. with his Twitter followers prior to shows. If you ask us, that’s what you call real love and dedication to the sport. The only thing left for Fash to do is go pro.
