3. Weezer - The Blue Album

Shortly after going from an L.A. rock band struggling to find gigs to signing a major label contract in 1993, Weezer dropped The Blue Album and got everyone’s attention with their quirky single “Undone - The Sweater Song.” Lead by Rivers Cuomo and his knack for classic melodies, Weezer quickly proved that they were more than just a band with a novelty song with a stream of singles including “Say It Ain’t So” and “Buddy Holly,” the video of which was directed by Spike Jonze along with the video for “Undone.” A mix of Cheap Trick, The Beach Boys and an unapologetic dash of ‘80s hard rock, Weezer’s debut has sold over 3 million copies in the U.S., inspired countless bands, and is considered a landmark record in commercial emo.
