Common- Ressurection

After the commercial failure of his debut, Can I Borrow A Dollar?, Common took a more introspective and soulful turn with his follow up, Resurrection.  Growing into manhood, he told tales of his personal struggles and detailed what it was like coming from Chicago. Creating an anthem for hip-hop, “I Used To Love H.E.R.” spoke of him falling in love with music and the eventual disappointment he faced, a sentiment that resonated heavily with listeners. Although 2000’s Like Water For Chocolate is his most universally praised work, Common’s sophomore release is considered a fan favorite.
