10. Georgia: Stratosphere
This is the shop that birthed Grant Taylor—literally. Stratosphere is owned by Grant Taylor’s dad, Thomas Taylor. Miki Vuckovich from the Tony Hawk Foundation called it “a legacy shop that’s been there for the locals through tough street times, and both DIY and grand public skatepark development.” That’s what we call supporting the scene.
The shop has been in business since 1985 and their team is a who’s-who of pro and am skaters with a global following, including Justin Brock, Dan Plunkett, David Clark, Pat McClain, and, of course, Grant Taylor. Plus, if you have trouble locating the shop, there is a map to it on the insole of Taylor’s Nike SB pro model.
