2. “New York, New York” - Frank Sinatra

Everyone from the Big Apple knows “New York, New York.” Although Liza Minnelli originally sang the tune for Martin Scorsese’s 1977 flick New York, New York, it was Frank Sinatra’s version that most people are familiar with. Once you hear the lyrics “start spreading the news” in Sinatra’s smooth voice, you can practically smell the hot pretzels in the air or the honking of taxis speeding down Fifth Avenue. New Yorkers have always shown a strong sense of pride in their city, and this song makes it even more apparent.
