Artist Andy Yoder Spends Over Two Years Building A Matchstick Globe

To create his life-sized art structure "Early One Morning," sculptor Andy Yoder dedicated nearly two years painting and piecing together thousands of matchsticks for this globe installation — which alludes to the potential for it to "catch on fire." In case you're wondering, Yoder hand-painted each match individually, using the blue, green, and brown colors of the earth and even a few swirling weather patterns. It will be on display at the Winkleman Gallery for the 2014 PULSE New York Contemporary Art Fair, going from May 8th to the 11th.
