13. Nintendo GameCube 2001
Finally deciding to get with the times, the Nintendo GameCube was the first console from the company to support online play, and not run on cartridge-based games. The console was easily Nintendo’s most divisive to date, launching without a Mario title, and ignoring the sleek, futuristic designs of its competitors, opting for a purple finish and cube shape. It may have been less successful than the consoles before or after it, but the GameCube proved Nintendo wasn’t out to copy anyone.
