Diadora X Packer Shoes celebrate Raekwon’s “The Purple Tape”

Italian brand Diadora, and renowned sneaker boutique Packer Shoes have paired together to celebrate the twentieth anniversary of Raekwon’s debut solo album Only Built 4 Cuban Linx.  Also dubbed “The Purple Tape,” The Chef’s classic LP was released back in 1995, being praised for its cinematic production and lyrical style. Raekwon’s impeccable storytelling, mafioso themes, and references to Five-Percenter teachings set the bar high for what is considered one of the greatest hip-hop albums of all time.

The Diadora N.9000 model is well crafted, much like the inspired album, boasting suede and mesh fabrics in various purple hues, bringing the theme to life. The shoes feature the numbers “1” and “2” on the back of the heel representing both sides of the tape, a parental advisory style logo on the tongue, and the track listing within the insoles. To add on to the greatness of the album, there is also a limited edition New York Yankee fitted caps available in black and purple, as well as a track jacket, also laced in the royal colorway.

The pack was released on August 20th, 2015 in first come, first served fashion, at famous NYC music venue S.O.B.’s
