DJ Khaled’s 7-Step Guide to Living a Life of Purpose and Meaning

I’m not sure about you guys, but I’ve been feeling particularly enlightened as of late—perhaps because I recently enrolled in a zen-empowered yoga class, but more likely because I started following DJ Khaled on Snapchat.

Assuming his position as the rap game Confucius, Khaled’s Snapchat stories are overflowing with wisdom and guidance. Over the past few days, he’s been blessing us with pro tips, adding to his existing catalogue of knowledge-drops and motivational insights. We’ve compiled some of his most useful pointers into a handy guide for your journey down the path to enlightenment.

So take that, “What does DJ Khaled even do?” skeptics and haters who refuse to acknowledge his contributions to the hip-hop community. He might not have bars or production credits, but dude is out here changing lives. We can only hope that if we absorb his sensible teachings, maybe, just maybe, we too can live a life like DJ Khaled’s—after all, he’s the best.

1. Practice personal hygiene.

Take it from DJ Khaled, the perfect balance of Dove soap and cocoa butter will unlock all of life’s most precious secrets. The more you know.

2. Work hard, manage time wisely, and always maintain an immaculate front yard landscape.

3. Work with your friends.

DJ Khaled’s recently released album, I Changed A Lot, is stacked with a myriad of guest appearances, like Jay Z, Lil Wayne, Rick Ross, Future, Jeezy, Jadakiss, Fabolous, Big Sean, Fetty Wap, French Montana, and a handful of others. Plus, his name has been attached to top-charting singles from this generation’s biggest pop and rap stars, most of whom are frequent collaborators. Team work makes the dream work, right?

4. Coin a catchphrase…

Khaled is a man of many one-liners, but perhaps his the popularized phrase he’s most notable for is “another one.” As an active participant in the sneaker community, Khaled stepped up (pun very much intended) a few months ago and released his own line of slides, featuring his signature catchphrase on the straps. We’re not sure when “another one” originated, but it’s unlikely that he predicted it would make him one of the most meme-able characters on the internet, much less that people would actually want to buy sandals promoting the phrase.

5. … And perfect the delivery.

Practice makes perfect.

6. Never miss an opportunity to flex.

Even DJ Khaled, superstar hit maker who hot tubs with celebrities on the regular, isn’t willing to pass up on a Snapchat-opportune moment. But can you blame him? You can’t sit here and honestly say that, if given the chance to join Rozay on stage during a performance, you wouldn’t document the entire experience to flex on your friends later.

7. Win, win, win. No matter what.
