Nike Unveils the KYRIE 1
Nike recently announced the latest addition to its signature athlete family with the unveiling of the KYRIE 1, a thoughtfully-designed ode to Cleveland Cavaliers guard Kyrie Irving. He’s the first athlete in six years to get a signature sneaker, with Kevin Durant being his predecessor.
The shoe was crafted by lead designer Leo Chang, who has also worked on KD’s line, Jason Petrie, who’s to thank for Nike’s LeBron models, and Peter Fogg, creator of the Hyperdunk. The shoe incorporates the many facets of Irving’s ethos, from his printed signature on the inner tongue to his mother’s name etched into the sole. The design itself carries elements of Irving’s athleticism, with the silhouette’s sleekness paralleling his quick and finessed playing style. Technical elements of the shoe include Nike Zoom Air cushioning, a 360-degree traction pattern draping the sidewall, and court-ready breathability with Hyperfuse technology. While “Dream” is the first colorway to be released (available in North America come December 23), "Deceptive Red" will drop globally on January 10, 2015 for $110. You can customize the KYRIE 1 right now on NIKEiD.
