7. Height of MP3 Cell Phones (2006)
It started with the Samsung SPH-M100 back in 2001, but over the next five years, every new cell phone worth buying had to include MP3 capabilities. To put it in numbers, music compatible phones sold more units than all standalone MP3 players combined by 2006. For a while, Nokia and Samsung were the main companies with the top phone choices, but soon the BlackBerry came through and presented itself as a tough competitor with their professional-meets-play series of phones. That is, of course, before Apple stepped in and claimed the throne with one product.
