The History of Steve Caballero
Steve Caballero is a skateboard legend. And to celebrate his 50th birthday, we decided to do a timeline showing “The History Of Cab.” Cab was a pro skateboarder by his early teens and helped shape skateboarding into what it is today. He pushed the limits of skateboarding by inventing tricks like the Caballerial, along with record-breaking airs, video parts, contest wins, and good taste in design and product. To this day his pro model shoe is still one of the best-selling shoes in skateboarding and around the globe.
When asked by Thrasher Magazine “What advice do you have about longevity,” his answer cemented why at age 50 he is still relevant and loved by all, as Cab simply replied, “Just having a nice, positive attitude towards everything that has to do with skateboarding… Skateboarding is my whole life — ever since I was 13 years old. Basically, I’ve made a career out of it and I enjoy it as much as I did when I first started.” Caballero still skates in contests to this day at age 50, and epitomizes what skateboarding is all about: fun. Take it from Cab himself, “Just skate for fun, don’t pick up a skateboard because you want to be a pro one day. Don’t forget why you started skating in the first place.” Happy Birthday, Cab! Here’s to 50 more.
